We arranged an urgent aircraft charter flight to help stranded Mexican fans reach Moscow for their national team’s victorious World Cup clash against Germany on Sunday 17th June 2018.
Mexican tour operator, Mundomex, were faced with a major crisis when their flights from Toluca to Moscow for 178 supporters, scheduled to depart on Thursday 14th June, were cancelled at the last minute by the company tasked with organising their charter flights.
ACC’s Director of Charter, Richard Smith, explains: “We received confirmation of the go-ahead from Mundomex on Thursday evening, giving us 24 hours to make the necessary arrangements.
“Thankfully, we were able to capitalise on our excellent relationship with national flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, repositioning their Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Addis Ababa to Toluca airport, ready to fly the fans out on Saturday 16th June, arriving on Sunday.
“Our team worked around the clock with Ethiopian, the airport authorities at Toluca, the Mexican Football Federation, Match Hospitality and Mundomex to make all of the necessary preparations, and we managed to get the fans out to Moscow in time to watch what turned out to be an excellent result.”
President of Mundomex, Luis Quintero, commented: “It was a great team effort, with many pressures, and, in the end, the Mexican fans got to the stadium.”Back to News
